✓ Our Recommendation: USDT on TRC20 (Tron Network)
USDT on the TRC20 (Tron) network combines the fastest processing time (15–30 minutes), the lowest network fees (typically $0.50–$2.00 per transaction), and a stable USD-pegged value — so you always know exactly how much arrives in your XM account. Avoid USDT on ERC20 (Ethereum) if possible — Ethereum gas fees can be high and unpredictable. In our May 2026 test, a USDT TRC20 deposit of $200 arrived in our XM account in 18 minutes.
How to Deposit Crypto to XM — Step by Step
Read Before Sending Any Crypto
Sending cryptocurrency to the wrong address or using the wrong network is irreversible. Lost crypto cannot be recovered by XM or anyone else. Always verify the address and network before confirming any transaction. Send a small test amount first if you are depositing for the first time.
Log In to Your XM Members Area
Go to the XM website and log in with your email and Members Area password. If you have not registered yet, see our XM account opening guide — registration takes 5 minutes.
Check Promotions Tab Before Depositing
Before making your first deposit, check the Promotions tab in your Members Area. If a no deposit bonus or 50% deposit bonus is available for your country, activate it before depositing — bonuses cannot be applied retroactively. See our no deposit bonus guide.
Check before every first depositSelect Your Account and Click Deposit Funds
Choose the trading account you want to fund from the dropdown. Click Deposit Funds. Select Cryptocurrency from the payment method list.
Choose Your Cryptocurrency and Network
Select the coin you want to send (BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC, etc.). If choosing USDT, select the correct network — TRC20 (Tron) or ERC20 (Ethereum). The network must match exactly with what you send from your wallet. Sending USDT on the wrong network results in permanent loss.
Network mismatch = permanent loss. If XM shows a TRC20 address, you must send from your TRC20 USDT balance using the Tron network. Sending ERC20 USDT to a TRC20 address will result in lost funds with no recovery possible.
Copy the XM Wallet Address Exactly
XM displays a unique wallet address for your deposit — this is a long alphanumeric string. Always copy using the copy button — never type it manually. One incorrect character sends your funds to the wrong wallet permanently. After copying, verify the first 4 and last 4 characters match when pasted in your sending wallet.
Always use the copy button — never type manuallySend From Your Wallet or Exchange
Open your crypto wallet (Binance, Coinbase, Trust Wallet, MetaMask, etc.). Paste the XM address in the recipient field. Select the correct network. Enter the amount to send. Consider sending a test amount of $10–20 first if this is your first crypto deposit to XM — verify it arrives correctly before sending your full amount.
Wait for Blockchain Confirmations
Your transaction is broadcast to the blockchain immediately after sending. XM waits for the required number of confirmations before crediting your account: Bitcoin typically needs 3 confirmations (~30–90 minutes), Ethereum 12 confirmations (~5–30 minutes), USDT TRC20 is usually confirmed within 15–30 minutes. You do not need to notify XM — the credit is automatic once confirmed.
✓ Automatic — no action neededVerify Balance in MT4/MT5
Once confirmed, your XM account balance updates immediately. The crypto is converted to your account base currency (USD, EUR, etc.) at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of crediting. Log in to your MT4, MT5, or WebTrader to confirm the balance — or check your Members Area dashboard.
Crypto Network Comparison — Speed, Fee & Risk
The "network" is the blockchain your crypto travels on — and it must match exactly between sender and receiver. Here is how the main options compare for XM deposits.
| Coin / Network | Typical Speed | Network Fee | Confirmations | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| USDT — TRC20 (Tron) | 15–30 min | ~$0.50–2 | 19 confirmations | ★ Best choice |
| Litecoin (LTC) | 20–60 min | ~$0.01–0.10 | 6 confirmations | Good alternative |
| Ethereum (ETH) | 30–90 min | $2–20+ (gas varies) | 12 confirmations | OK for large amounts |
| USDT — ERC20 (Ethereum) | 30–90 min | $5–30+ (gas varies) | 12 confirmations | Avoid — high fee |
| Bitcoin (BTC) | 30–180 min | $1–20+ (varies) | 3 confirmations | OK — slowest option |
"We sent $200 worth of USDT on the TRC20 (Tron) network to our XM Standard account in May 2026. The transaction was confirmed on the blockchain in 11 minutes after sending — XM credited our account 7 minutes after the required confirmations completed. Total time from sending to tradeable balance: 18 minutes. Network fee charged by our exchange: $1.20. XM charged no additional fee. The $200 arrived as $200.00 in our USD account — no conversion loss because USDT is pegged to USD."
— XEM Signup Editorial Team, tested May 2026Important Rules — AML Policy & Crypto Withdrawal
First withdrawal must return to crypto (method matching)
XM's anti-money laundering (AML) policy requires that your first withdrawal returns to the same payment method as your first deposit. If you deposited via Bitcoin, your first withdrawal up to the deposited amount must go back to a Bitcoin wallet. If you deposited via USDT TRC20, your first withdrawal must go back to a USDT TRC20 address. This applies to all deposit methods at XM — not just crypto. After the first withdrawal, you can use different methods.
Crypto is converted at the rate on deposit day
When you deposit crypto, XM converts it to your account base currency (e.g. USD) at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of crediting. Depositing $200 of BTC means exactly $200 is credited to your account — the $200 is the USD value at the moment XM processes the deposit, not the value when you initiated the transaction. If Bitcoin price drops 2% while your transaction confirms, you receive ~$196 instead of $200.
⚠ Avoid Volatile Coins for Large Deposits
For large deposits ($1,000+), use USDT (which is pegged 1:1 to USD) rather than BTC or ETH. Sending BTC during a volatile market means the USD value credited to your XM account may differ from what you sent, depending on price movements during the 1–3 hour confirmation window. USDT eliminates this price risk entirely.
Crypto withdrawals from XM
XM processes crypto withdrawals within 24 business hours. After XM processes the withdrawal request, blockchain confirmation adds another 1–3 hours. The same network rules apply — if you withdraw BTC, it goes to your Bitcoin wallet; USDT TRC20 goes to your TRON address. Verify your withdrawal address carefully before confirming — crypto withdrawals are irreversible once processed. Full details in our XM withdrawal guide.
